GRADUATION SET FOR 139 AT TYNER
Exercises to Be Tuesday at 8 PM – Dr. Monroe to Award Diplomas
A class of 139 will be graduating at Tyner High School Tuesday at exercises beginning at 8 p.m., it was announced Thursday. It will be the 52nd annual commencement for the school. The commencement program will begin Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with the baccalaureate sermon in the school auditorium by Dr. J. Fred Johnson, pastor of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Rev. J. B. Moss, pastor of Tyner Methodist Church, will offer the invocation and the Rev. Richard L. Johnson, superintendent of Baptist Children’s home, will say the benediction. The varsity choir, directed by W. Frank Conger, will sing "Laudamus Te," Sine Nomine," and "Psalm 150." Student Speakers Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium student speakers will deliver orations based on famous words by presidents of the United States. Speakers include Denise Eaves, class representative; Toney Sweeney, salutatorian; Judy Eaves, faculty representative and Wendell Johnson, valedictorian. The Rev. C. H. Galloway, pastor of the Westview Cumberland Presbyterian Church, will give the invocation; and the Rev. John Carnes, faculty member and pastor of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church, will offer the benediction. Music will be furnished by a brass choir under the direction of John Bridges; girls trio; and the varsity choir directed by Mr. Conger. Reye Lynn Randolph and Cardinal Woolsey will be the accompanists. Principal Thomas O. Dye will present the class to Robert B. Walker, Tyner alumnus and member of the Hamilton County Board of Education. Dr. Fox Monroe of the Board of Education will award the diplomas. The complete program is as follows:

Rogers. Officers of the class are David Kelley, president; Don Chamber, vice-president; Denese Eaves, secretary; Claude Ramsey, business manager, and Carolyn Perry, reporter. Members of the junior class who will lead the processional for the baccalaureate and commencement exercises, respectively, are Carol Mathia and David Cunningham and Judy Allen and Franklin Koons. Juniors serving as ushers for both occasions will be: Roger Varnell, Keith Leamon, Charles Abernathy, Gene Satterfield, Paul Hinton, and Ronnie Adams.
