After graduation, I attended nursing school at Erlanger School of Nursing in Chattanooga. After about a year, I quit and married Charles Tate. We had three children, Randy (age thirty-nine), Ricky (age thirty-seven) and Angie (age thirty-two). I spent my "first" married life involved in child raising, PTA, being a Homeroom Mother and such as that. After eleven and a half years of marriage, my husband died in an automobile accident in November, 1973. My "second" married life began in July 1975 when I married John Cole and moved to Lake City, Florida. We have a son, also named John, now age twenty-five. In 1998, Johnny and I were divorced, and I moved to the Orlando area. I worked in the field of Bookkeeping (I know my high school bookkeeping teacher, Mrs. Beatty, wouldn't believe it) for almost twenty years. When I moved to the Orlando area, I completely changed career and started working in property management. I now own my own company in partnership with with a friend. We work directly with the British owners, and I love being involved in meeting people all over the world. I have done a little traveling and had the opportunity to visit Belgium for two weeks in 1999 and stay with friends. We visited Paris, Germany and Holland as well as places all over Belgium. I am the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren: nine boys and one girl. I have another one due at the end of October and hopefully it's a girl. The oldest two are eleven years old (born two days apart) and the youngest is two. My oldest son, Randy, has spent most of his career in law enforcement but recently moved into finance and insurance at a dealership in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Ricky has spent a lot of time in sales and is now the General Manager for the Chevrolet dealership in Bastrop, Louisiana. Angie works as the supervisor for Another Way in four counties around Lake City, Florida, where she is an advocate for abused women. My youngest son, sadly to say, has not quite settled to any one thing, yet, but is very talented in music and art. Well, that about covers the highlights of my life
since 1961, but I feel like my life will be reflected many years to come
in the lives of my children and grandchildren. |
